Job Summary
Provides assistance with patient care activities and other unit tasks under the general supervision of licensed professional staff and as directed by the manager.
Work ScheduleThree 8 hour night shifts (11:15 p‑07:15 a) alternating every other weekend.
Responsibilities- Provides physical care to assigned patients and performs technical skills such as point‑of‑care testing.
- Implements nursing orders promptly with an understanding of their purpose.
- Follows policy and procedure for assigned patient care activities, including unit‑specific equipment.
- Provides patient comfort by positioning, extra bathing, straightening linens, and placing personal articles within reach with courtesy and responsiveness.
- Ensures patient safety through preventative measures (e.g., side rails, restraints, bed/chair exit alarm, and hourly rounding).
- Enters all data into the computer system as applicable.
- Communicates all patient and visitor information and observations to the appropriate person.
- Provides care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan.
- Reports changes observed in patient condition or behavior and all unusual conditions or reactions to the nurse in charge.
- Recognizes and responds to priorities in the patient care process, exercising good judgment in setting priorities for activities.
- Uses effective working relationships with all health‑care team members, patients, and significant others.
- Maintains a safe and orderly work environment and a clean, well‑stocked work area; assists with maintaining unit equipment.
- Works as a Safety Attendant/Patient Sitter, providing a safe environment to specific patients and following WCHN standards of service excellence.
- Attends staff meetings and reads/signs 100% of meeting minutes.
- Maintains competency for Basic Life Support certification.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Active CNA certification is preferred.
- Basic Life Support/CPR certification required within 90 days of start date or upon completion of the orientation process.
- Experience in a hospital environment is preferred but not required.
- Minimum formal education of High School Diploma and zero to six months job‑related experience.
- Manual: significant manual skills/motor coordination & finger dexterity.

Some occupational risk. - Physical Effort:
Very heavy effort; may exert up to 50 lbs. force. - Physical Environment:
Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
$16.50 – $27.67 per hour
