Responsibilities
- Follow ALARA principles and scan patients with appropriate exposure and minimal repeatability. Wear radiation badges to track exposure. Verify pregnancy status and obtain waivers as needed. Note all repeats/rejections.
- Identify patients correctly and introduce yourself. Review prescription and protocol. Advise on exam preparation. Explain procedures and address questions.
- Determine technical factors, set appropriate compression, position patients accurately, and ensure optimal image quality. Communicate with patients throughout.
- Respect scheduled times, communicate delays, review charge entries, and ensure accurate documentation and coding.
- Evaluate image quality, repeat as necessary, and ensure images are correctly transferred and documented. Provide images and reports for radiologist interpretation.
- Update patient and exam information, document relevant history, and confirm prior exams are available.
- Follow infection control protocols, clean/disinfect equipment, and maintain a tidy work environment.
- Maintain quality control standards, initiate equipment service requests, and participate in required procedures.
- Recognize patient needs, respond promptly, and utilize emergency equipment when necessary. Perform other modalities as requested.
- Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program
- Minimum 1 year Mammography experience (GE preferred)
- ARRT Certification in Radiography and Mammography (within 1 year)
- State license, CPR, continuing education, MQSA compliance
- Knowledge of anatomy, professionalism, positive attitude, and computer skills (PACS, RIS, tracking systems)
$43.00 - $54.00 hourly, based on experience
