DescriptionFour ten‑hour shifts a week, 11:00 am to 9:00 pm with and occasional weekends.

- CT State RN License required.
- BSN or advanced degree in nursing required (or completion within two years).
- 2 years of relevant clinical experience with at least 1 year of leadership experience or demonstrated leadership skills.
- Nursing certification in leadership or related specialty preferred.
- Membership in a healthcare or nursing professional organization preferred.
- Assist in planning, organization, and evaluation of nursing practice standards on the unit.
- Assume accountability for supervision of personnel and facilitate optimal patient care through appropriate resource use to provide safe, quality care.
- Provide mentoring, coaching, feedback, and foster teamwork in a positive work environment to achieve quality services with a high level of employee engagement; values and supports diversity.
- Contribute to interviewing, disciplinary, and ongoing performance‑management processes for nursing staff.
- Re‑enforce the importance of established training requirements and ensure all team members meet all training requirements within established timelines.
- Support the Patient Care Manager and be accountable for reaching departmental goals.
- Provide input to the Patient Care Manager for effective fiscal management of the department to ensure proper utilization of financial resources.
- Ensure operational and human resources are used effectively in support of departmental fiscal goals.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary and interdepartmental communication for effective departmental operations; work collaboratively with physicians and other leaders in the organization.
- Ensure department regulatory compliance with standards through policies and practices; manage quality of services, identify performance‑improvement and patient‑safety opportunities, and develop and implement quality and safety initiatives.
- Assume responsibility for developing and maintaining an environment that supports service excellence and acts as a role model for staff, patient, and family interactions.
- Assume responsibility for personal and professional development to ensure current knowledge in the profession; collaborate with the Department of Professional Development to identify and develop educational programs to maintain staff skill sets and foster professional growth.
- Support staff participation in the shared governance model and act as a mentor and leader for nurses in understanding the shared governance model.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
Manual – significant manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity;
Occupational – significant occupational risk;
Physical Effort – very heavy, may exert up to 50 lbs;
Physical Environment – significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
Salary – $51.31–$73 per hour.
