The Cardiac Monitor Technician is responsible for continuously monitoring cardiac rhythms of patients, identifying and reporting arrhythmias, and supporting clinical staff in maintaining patient safety and care.

Shifts: Rotating between day and night shift 8 and 12 hour shifts

Sign on Bonus: $7,500 for eligible external candidates with at least one yr of cardiac rhythm interpretation experience

Responsibilities:

• Monitor Cardiac Rhythms:
  Continuously observes and analyzes cardiac rhythms on telemetry monitors for assigned patients.
• Identify Abnormalities:
  Recognize arrhythmias, heart blocks, and other cardiac irregularities, promptly reporting significant changes to the nursing staff.
• Document Rhythm Strips:
  Accurate documentation of rhythm interpretations, noting changes, maintaining patient records, and notifying nursing staff of the changes.
• Communication:
  Communicates to nursing staff as necessary in regards to proper lead placement, battery changes, verifying of cardiac rhythms and need for escalation of care.
• Equipment Maintenance:
  Troubleshoot telemetry equipment issues and escalate as necessary to biomedical support.

Education, Skills,

Experience:

• Successful completion of the 2-day EKG interpretation class.
• Must obtain a passing score of 80% or higher on the EKG interpretation exam within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a hospital setting or Cardiac Monitoring
• Experience with interpretation of cardiac rhythms
• Education of the Philips monitoring system
