Department Profile

The mission of the Cerritos College Business Education Division is to provide accessible, high-quality learning opportunities that prepare students for careers in business and related fields. The Division offers instruction in the practices, tools, and technologies of modern business as well as specialized areas of enterprise and professional practice. Programs are designed to support workforce preparation, career advancement, and transfer opportunities while equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a dynamic business environment.

The Dean provides leadership and administrative oversight for six departments within the Division:
Accounting, Business Administration, Business Communication & Office Technology, Paralegal (Law), and Real Estate. The Dean supervises full‑time and part‑time faculty as well as classified staff and is responsible for supporting instructional quality, program development, and effective division operations. The Division maintains current instructional technologies in classrooms and laboratory environments to ensure that students gain experience with industry‑relevant tools and practices.

Summary

Plans, supervises, assesses and evaluates instructional programs for an academic division. Plans, develops and evaluates curriculum, programs, and services that meet the needs of a highly diverse urban student population. Oversees the planning, supervision, assessment and evaluation of instructional programs, including their services, personnel, interagency reports and contacts, and budget. The position also provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Vice President, Academic Affairs.

This position requires the ability to direct the activities of an academic division, provide leadership over curriculum, faculty and staff, and deliver instructional programs with excellence.
