Wheaton College seeks a qualified individual to teach one section of “Introduction to Libraries and Archives” scheduled in the Spring ’26 semester.
Course DetailsINT 230 – “Introduction to Libraries and Archives” meets Mondays from 6:00 PM – 8:50 PM Spring 2026. This course explores the fields of library science and archives. Topics will include the history of information, the history of U.S. libraries and archives, organizational structures and missions, community engagement, and current challenges and opportunities in libraries and archives. The course is hands‑on, with a focus on social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Responsibilities- Teaching effectively in an in‑person environment that encourages student‑faculty interactions.
- Creating a syllabus (with assistance, if desired) to be provided to students and posted on the course’s Canvas site.
- Selecting and ordering textbooks and/or procuring other course materials before classes begin.
- Grading assignments within appropriate time frames and posting grades on Canvas.
- Holding regular office hours and being responsive to student needs.
- MLS or similar is required, and undergraduate teaching experience is strongly preferred.
Wheaton College maintains a flexible and competitive staff compensation and benefits program. The anticipated hiring salary for this course is $5,000. Salary offers will be commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience.
