Overview
Job Summary:
Provides empathetic pharmacy consulting services to patients regarding the effective use of medications and drug interaction awareness. Offers preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome services. Ensures prescribed medications are compounded, reviewed, dispensed, and verified accurately according to regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures. Manages an efficient pharmacy workflow and improves pharmacy financials, manages inventory effectively, and enhances patient experience.
Manages pharmacy staff performance and engagement. Ensures the professional development of pharmacy staff by overseeing training, focused coaching, and executing formal performance management initiatives.

Participates in events that reflect the unique communities served as requested by Store Manager, Healthcare Supervisor, or District Manager. - Operations:
Counsels patients and answers questions regarding medication usage, side effects, interactions, contraindications, privacy, generics, cost considerations, and over-the-counter products. Refers to the medical provider as needed to ensure correct use and satisfaction with service. - Operations:
Performs pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management. - Operations:
Reviews, interprets, and accurately dispenses prescribed medications in accordance with regulations and standards. - Operations:
Ensures pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations, company policies and standards. Establishes procedures that promote efficient workflow, oversees staff scheduling, assigns roles, coordinates activities, and solicits team input. Responsible for opening and closing the pharmacy and shift changes. - Operations:
Ensures the use of Good Faith Dispensing elements in conjunction with state and federal controlled substance laws when filling prescriptions. - Operations:

Maintains information technology knowledge of pharmacy systems and supports staff and patients with information technology; identifies opportunities to improve productivity. - Operations:
Ensures insurance claims are processed accurately and resolves patient issues with insurers and providers, including third-party audits. - Operations:
Follows up with medical providers to clarify prescriptions, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies and suggests alternatives as needed. - Operations:
Performs clinical and wellness services such as immunizations, diagnostic testing, disease state management, and other healthcare services. - Operations:
Partners with centralized support for patient registration, exception resolution, and virtual product reviews following company procedures. - Operations:
Manages maintenance, housekeeping, and improvements of the pharmacy department to ensure a functional, presentable and efficient environment. - Operations:
Prepares and submits records, reports, and other documentation as required by law to run the pharmacy business.
- Collaborates with Store Manager on pharmacy staff hiring, discipline, termination as needed, and ensures compliance with employment laws.
- Establishes expectations and goals, promotes teamwork, and fosters a shared vision. Recognizes improvements in staff and manages performance through training and formal reviews.
- Identifies high-potential team members and collaborates on career progression.
- Addresses employee relations concerns and maintains team morale by addressing welfare, complaints, and conflicts.
- Maintains required licensing/credentialing/certification as established by federal and state regulations to provide clinical services.
- Maintains knowledge of pharmacy and healthcare by reading journals and Walgreens communications; pursues best practices to enhance business and performance.
- Completes required education credits and training.
- Seeks professional development through performance feedback and mentorship from Healthcare Supervisors and Store Managers.
