Overview

Plans, coordinates, and directs quality, compassionate care by maintaining standards of professional nursing practice and creating positive therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Provides leadership to team members by articulating and delegating expected standards of care, supervising, encouraging, and supporting their contributions. Supervises LPNs, PCAs, US, Ortho Techs, and other non-licensed staff.

Responsibilities

Assess the condition of each assigned patient on admission and ongoing, including physical, psychological, social, spiritual, cultural needs, pain management, nutritional, functional, developmental, and discharge planning needs.

Plan, provide, and document patient and/or significant other education based on identified barriers and individual needs.

Evaluate and reevaluate patient care regularly; coordinate care planning with patients, families, providers, and disciplines to achieve patient-centered outcomes.

Assign and delegate nursing care to team members according to patient needs and team capabilities.

Apply safety principles during care and document observations, care provided, and changes in care plan accurately.

Participate in transition rounds, care planning, problem identification, and team shift reports.

Assist in performance improvement activities by serving on PI teams, supporting PI measures, and implementing necessary changes.

Perform initial and annual competency assessments per job class.

Qualifications

Current Alabama RN license required. Current AHA BLS certification required. AHA ACLS and NRP training required within 6-12 months of employment. Professional Nursing Certification preferred. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Coordinate finger movements and perceive temperature, texture, shape, and size.
Perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work prolonged shifts with stamina.
Normal or corrected hearing and vision.
Onsite presence is essential.
