Primary purpose of the position.

Ensures the Beverage Packaging, North and Central America (NCA) accounting functions meets Ball Corporation’s overall business plans and objectives. Manages the accounting function in coordination with other teams to ensure compliance with Ball Corporation’s accounting policies and procedures.

Essential Responsible Areas.
  • Responsible for the completion of the month end closing process, including the preparation, input and review of journal entries for the BPNCA division, in coordination with other teams. Reviews transactions for inventory/cost accounting, revenue recognition, rebates, accruals, derivatives, intercompany, and other transactions.
  • Helps facilitate the creation and review of financial reports, including the Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss, and Cash Flow Statement. Reviews reconciliations of material division level balance sheet accounts quarterly (revenue recognition related activity, manufacturing accounting, inventory, incentive compensation, accruals, derivatives, etc.). Assists in the explanations of balance sheet fluxes for the division.
  • Leads cost accounting team including managing the monthly manufacturing accounting processes, overseeing item setup and costing, managing standard cost revaluation process, and supporting plant functions, as required.
  • Identifies and implements operational process and internal controls for the division. Understands and ensures adherence to SOX controls over financial reporting. Acts as a primary liaison to internal and external auditors each quarter and at year‑end for financial and SOX related audit requests.
  • Reviews and assists in the analysis, preparation, and submission of financial results for the corporate consolidation in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Leads divisional projects to better utilize systems and resources in order to drive or support division objectives. This includes supporting new growth initiatives for BPNCA by ensuring the division can correctly account for and report the expansion within our systems, processes, and new sales channels/customers.
  • Liaises with other divisions and shared service functions in the performance of accounting responsibilities and in implementing company‑wide initiatives.
  • Assists with analysis of variances for monthly reporting, and assists FP&A functions on the development of annual operating plan and quarterly re‑forecasts. Provides support for manufacturing system and assists with enhancement projects interfacing activity into JDE.
  • Coordinates the preparation of quarterly disclosures for input in to the 10‑Q and 10‑K accurately, completely and in accordance with the timelines established.
  • Manages and develops staff, including review of the staff’s work to ensure accurate reporting. Effectively manages and supports remote team members. Works independently within parameters set by management.
  • Performs research on technical accounting topics for complex accounting entries, as needed.
Professional & Education Qualifications.
  • Broad training in a related field acquired through Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field.
  • Public accounting experience is a plus.
  • Job related experience for 5 years minimum.
  • Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience managing a team of two or more direct reports.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Skilled at analytical and problem‑solving techniques to troubleshoot problems independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and make recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, preferably integrated manufacturing systems (specifically JDE) and HFM.
  • Experienced in manufacturing accounting.

  • Hybrid On‑Site Work Environment:
    Based in Colorado, this position requires regular in‑person engagement by working on‑site for three (3) or more days per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). [Travel and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non‑Ball locations may be required.]
