Position Summary:

Position performs clinical sample processing, archiving and sample management. Perform routine and/or special assays on blood and body fluids. There is an opportunity available for a Clinical Laboratory Technician in the laboratory of Dr. Randall Bateman, which investigates the causes, future diagnosis and treatments of Alzheimer’s disease utilizing a wide variety of assays and techniques from basic applications, such as quantitative measurement of stable isotope labeled peptides and clinical translational studies in diagnostic and therapeutic biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease.

Duties in this role include clinical sample preparation and collection from the clinic, processing, archiving, storing and sample management. This role also includes sample preparation, sample running and Mass spec for any projects run by or in collaboration with the Bateman Lab/SILQ Center. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for clinical sample preparation, collection, processing and handling, archiving and sample management.
  • Performs routine assays according to laboratory standard operating procedures, including instrument maintenance and minor troubleshooting; may perform special assays with supervision by a senior medical technologist or supervisor.
  • Recognizes problem situations and participates in problem solving; informs supervisor of unusual situations and requests technical assistance.
  • May assist with validation of new assays; compiles data for supervisory review; utilizes database, spreadsheet and word processing programs.
  • Comply with all regulatory and client requirements for testing and documentation.
  • Demonstrates a general understanding of assay methods and clinical relevance; participates in relevant continuing education.
  • Assists supervisor with other duties and special projects as needed.
