Range of the Position/ Grade: $14/hour to $30/hour / Grade 125
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt - Seasonal

As a Sustainability Intern, you will support the Village’s environmental initiatives by assisting with data collection and research, preparing materials for Climate Action Plan education and outreach, developing engaging communications and social media content, and helping educate the community on sustainability efforts.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with data collection, analysis, and entry
- Prepare research documents, presentations, and materials for environmental education and advocacy programs regarding the Climate Action Plan.
- Respond professionally to phone calls and email inquiries from community members
- Collaborate with staff on projects that advance environmental goals and community engagement
- Develop engaging social media and communications content related to sustainability initiatives
- Support the planning and delivery of sustainability-related programming
- Attend community events as a representative of the Village.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Essential duties will evolve over time to meet the ever-changing responsibilities of the Department and become part of the position’s required responsibilities.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to report to Northbrook Village Hall. Relocation or transportation to the internship will not be provided.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Candidates should be currently enrolled as full-time undergraduate or graduate students in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Biology, Geography, or a related discipline; students in comparable fields with relevant coursework are also encouraged to apply.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite is required.
- Experience in Canva is preferred
- Good written and oral communication skills.
