Registered Nurse (RN) – Citadel Healthcare

Citadel of Northbrook is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our skilled‑nursing team. As an RN you will assume responsibility for a group of residents or a shift of duty, providing nursing care through assessment, implementation, and evaluation of the care plan.

• Provides licensed care to assigned residents as ordered by physicians and in accordance with facility, federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations.
• Maintains a clean and sanitary work area, resident care rooms, and treatment areas.
• Records vital signs and administers catheter care, IV therapy, and respiratory care (e.g., oxygen, nebulizer treatments) within license limitations.
• Charts nursing notes informatively and descriptively, reflecting the care provided and resident response.
• Ensures a safe environment, promptly addressing potential safety risks.
• Monitors and directs non‑licensed ancillary services to meet professional standards.
• Communicates and reports information to residents, families, physicians, guardians, agencies, and facility personnel as required.
• Implements and maintains all aspects of resident care plans, recommending changes to the interdisciplinary team.
• Ensures compliance with infection control standards, correcting non‑compliance immediately.
• Follows company policies on HIPAA compliance.
• Performs any other duties assigned.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Knowledge of infection control standards, policies, and procedures.
• Adaptability to a flexible schedule and occasional overnight travel.

• Positive attitude toward working with short‑ and long‑term care residents and the elderly.
• Meets all required health standards.
• Basic computer proficiency; familiarity with Microsoft Office (2000 or newer) and email.

• Registered Nursing degree or diploma from an accredited institution.
• Current RN license in the state.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Long‑term care experience preferred.

• Ability to walk, reach, bend, lift, sit extended periods, grasp, and coordinate fine hand movements; use of mechanical devices allowed.
• Adherence to company safety standards; exposure to environmental hazards limited.
• Meets all health requirements.
