Engineering Leader – Switching Devices – UL Solutions

Responsibilities
  • Implement and execute capacity and capability management under guidance of the Business Manager.
  • Ensure effective workflow by engaging with cross‑functional leads and customers to understand scope of projects and technical needs, assigning resources accordingly.
  • Drive process improvements to achieve financial results.
  • Support local team members and, when required, remote employees in other locations.
  • Build and lead a high‑performing team by managing performance and development of team members.
  • Operate effectively within UL’s matrix to support high‑performance culture changes, transformation efforts, and people engagement.
  • Hold team and self accountable for results; assist Engineering Manager in defining goals, performance objectives, and metrics to execute strategy.
  • Develop and coach team members through training, career counseling, feedback, and guidance to drive high performance and morale.
  • Ensure understanding of and compliance with all established policies and requirements.
  • Increase customer loyalty by anticipating needs and providing proactive solutions.
  • Gather, share, and respond to customer feedback; coach and mentor employees to do the same.
  • Support sales by building relationships with customers, understanding product pipeline, and providing technical guidance and engineering judgment to address issues such as complaints, unusual requests, or technical advice.
  • Ensure quality and adherence to policies, standards, and requirements; lead and participate in discussions to drive business initiatives through brainstorming.
  • Empower and hold team accountable to identify new opportunities that drive growth and financial goals (revenue, profit, enterprise value, etc.).
  • Delegate responsibilities to project handlers to establish appropriate test programs.
  • Guide project handlers to ensure compliance with requirements and to manage changes in scope, specifications, and customer notifications.
  • Explain UL family policies, procedures, and requirements; negotiate completion dates and sample requirements; ensure an effective experience with UL and its family of companies.
  • Communicate and exemplify UL’s Vision and Mission.
  • Lead, promote, and embrace change through personal and team action.
  • Collaborate and build trust within the organization and with customers to meet or exceed their expectations.
  • Develop strong, flexible cross‑functional networks and global relationships to become the fastest, highest quality, and most customer‑friendly organization.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and all physical and digital security practices.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required (Electrical Engineering preferred).
  • 5+ years of engineering experience required.
  • Formal or informal leadership experience.
  • Experience in the electrical/electronic device industry preferred.
  • Project Management experience preferred.
What We Offer

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $110,000 – $140,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job‑related knowledge/skills, experience, geographic location, and other factors. The position is eligible for an annual bonus with a target payout of 20% of the base salary.

Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and a retirement savings plan (401(k)) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each location or country. Full‑time employees receive paid time off, including vacation (15 days), holidays (including floating holidays, 12 days), and sick time off (72 hours).
