Talent Manager, HR Manager
Our client, a mid-sized investment firm located in the northern suburbs of Chicago, is seeking an experienced and highly autonomous HR Manager to serve as the firm’s sole HR resource. This role will oversee all aspects of human resources, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compliance, compensation and benefits, and HR operations. The ideal candidate will balance strategic partnership with hands‑on execution in a fast‑paced financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the firm’s primary HR business partner, advising leadership on people strategy, organizational design, and workforce planning.
- Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs that support business objectives and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Manage full‑cycle recruiting for professional and corporate roles, including sourcing, interviewing, offer negotiation, and onboarding.
- Build relationships with recruiting agencies and external partners as needed.
- Create structured onboarding programs to ensure a strong employee experience from day one.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance on performance, conduct, and conflict resolution.
- Manage performance review processes, goal‑setting frameworks, and feedback systems.
- Coach managers on performance management, disciplinary actions, and documentation.
- Administer compensation programs, including base pay, incentive plans, and equity programs where applicable.
- Oversee benefits administration (health, retirement, wellness programs), vendor management, and annual renewals.
- Conduct benchmarking and support salary review and bonus cycles.
- Develop initiatives to strengthen firm culture, employee engagement, and inclusion.
- Support leadership on internal communications and change management initiatives.
Required:
- 5–10 years of progressive HR experience
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (Master’s or MBA a plus).
- Experience operating as a standalone HR professional or in a lean HR environment
- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and compensation/benefits administration.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and manage sensitive issues with discretion.
- Hands‑on, self‑starter mindset with strong organizational and project management skills.
- SHRM‑CP/SHRM‑SCP, PHR/SPHR, or similar certification.
- Experience with HRIS systems and payroll vendors.
