Job Title: Professional Civil Engineer
Location: Northbrook, IL

About the Role
We are a leading civil engineering firm seeking a motivated Professional Civil Engineer to lead the design and coordination of various projects from initial client contact through construction.

This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects while fostering long-term client relationships and contributing to impactful solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and manage civil engineering projects, including feasibility studies, land development construction documents, permitting, and construction observation.
  • Prepare client contracts, schedule survey crews, and manage deliverables.
  • Develop construction documents, cost opinions, and village submittals for review and approval.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications to regulatory agencies, including Illinois EPA, MWRD, IDOT, IDNR, FEMA, and the Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Perform stormwater management analysis and prepare related reports.
  • Conduct field observations and coordinate construction activities.
  • Utilize design tools such as AutoCAD, Micro Station, Geopak/Open Roads, TR20, and EPASWMM.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to ensure successful project outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Illinois (Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) preferred).
  • Proven experience in land development design, grading, sanitary sewer, watermain, roadway design, and stormwater management.
  • Proficiency in Micro Station, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and hydraulic modeling tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Team-oriented with excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
