Position OverviewEmmaty, Inc. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Project Cost Engineer with a minimum of two (2) years of general construction estimating experience in the public, federal, and/or commercial sectors.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for public and private sector construction projects. This individual must be proficient in interpreting civil and electrical drawings, performing detailed quantity take-offs, and collaborating with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to develop comprehensive bid proposals.
This role is critical to supporting Emmaty’s continued growth in government, infrastructure, and commercial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed cost estimates for general construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead.
- Perform quantity take-offs from civil, architectural, structural, and electrical drawings.
- Analyze and interpret project plans, specifications, addenda, and bid documents.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
- Conduct scope reviews and identify gaps or inconsistencies in bid documents.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
- Prepare bid summaries, comparison sheets, and final proposal documentation.
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members during handoff from estimating to operations.
- Maintain and update cost databases and historical pricing records.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Construction, or related field required).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in construction estimating.
- Demonstrated experience in general construction estimation.
- Ability to read and interpret civil and electrical drawings
. - Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost structures.
- Proficiency with estimation and take-off software, including:
- AutoCAD
- Plan Swift
- RSMeans and/or Take-Off software
- Microsoft Excel (advanced proficiency required)
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
- Experience in estimating public-sector or government projects.
