Warehouse Floor Supervisor – Boart Longyear Job Overview

The Warehouse Floor Supervisor at Boart Longyear is responsible for coordinating and directing the daily warehouse activities on the floor, including receiving, inventory handling, order picking, kitting, packing, and shipment staging, to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with warehouse standards. The role provides day‑to‑day leadership to the warehouse crew, enforces safety and operational procedures, and applies corrective or disciplinary measures when standards are not met, escalating to the Warehouse Manager as needed.

The Floor Supervisor also supports continuous improvement within all warehouse functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the warehouse team on the floor, including receiving, inventory movements, kitting, picking, and packing.
  • Assign and balance workloads to meet shipping schedules, production demands, and customer priorities.
  • Lead daily start‑up huddles/toolbox talks, communicate goals, safety topics, and operational changes.
  • Ensure proper documentation and data entry in ERP or warehouse management systems by working closely with the Warehouse Administrator.
  • Monitor adherence to warehouse layout, storage rules, and FIFO to keep aisles, yellow‑rail areas, and staging zones clear and organized.
  • Enforce safety, quality, and operational procedures and exercise Stop Work Authority to stop unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Provide on‑the‑job training, coaching, and direction to warehouse employees, including safe forklift operation, PPE, housekeeping, and product handling.
  • Apply first‑level corrective action (verbal coaching, re‑instruction, documenting repeated non‑compliance) and escalates disciplinary issues to the Senior DC Supervisor when performance does not improve.
  • Conduct routine inventory checks and support cycle counting to maintain accurate stock levels and investigate variances.
  • Implement and maintain 5S and lean practices in warehouse areas to keep the site inspection‑ready.
  • Report performance, attendance, and safety issues to the Warehouse Manager in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with procurement, production, and logistics teams to ensure smooth material flow.
  • Support audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform all other reasonable duties as assigned.
Key Skills & Competencies

  • Experience with ERP systems and inventory management tools.
  • Good understanding of shipping, receiving, and inventory control processes.

Qualifications Education
  • College degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or related field preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational training or technical qualification in logistics, warehouse operations, or supply chain preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum 2–3 years of warehouse experience, including some time in a lead, senior clerk, or acting supervisor role.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is preferred.
  • Forklift license (UDT) required.
Languages
  • Fluent in local language; basic English skills required.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
  • Active warehouse environment with regular exposure to forklifts, pallet jacks, and handling equipment.
  • Required use of PPE including safety shoes, gloves, and high‑visibility clothing.
  • Frequent lifting of items up to 25 kg with use of lifting aids as appropriate.
Additional Information
  • No visa sponsorship; applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Hours of Work:
    Monday to Friday – 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
  • Compensation: CAD 60–70 K annually.
