ONE KIDS PLACE Children’s Treatment Centre provides rehabilitation and related support services for children and youth (up to the age of 19) and their families living in the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing and Parry Sound. All staff provide service within an interdisciplinary team environment committed to family-centered practice.

To ensure we can meet the needs of our communities at times that work best for them, our staff are expected to maintain flexibility in their schedules, which may include working outside standard business hours as per client needs.
POSITION SUMMARYThe Therapy Assistant will work with the Rehabilitation Therapists and Teacher to deliver an integrated service plan to children transitioning to school. The Therapy Assistant will work daily in the classroom planning and implementing programming for children in the pre-academic environment. Assist children in toileting, dressing, following routines, socializing with others, developing the skills necessary to transition successfully to school, and ensuring documentation is consistent with agency standards.
JOBDUTIES
- Individual will be responsible for carrying out group and individual activities with children in an effort to teach and develop the skills necessary to transition successfully to school.
- Individual will be working directly with a Rehabilitation Therapists and Teacher in the Transition to School Program.
- Documents client-related activities and workload practices according to Children’s Treatment Centre standards and maintains client confidentiality and privacy.
- Makes recommendations to the therapist who determines the need for other discipline involvement in addressing the needs of the child/youth.
- Participates in the orientation and training of new staff members, placement students and/or volunteers.
- Pursues on-going professional development and growth.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Post-secondary education required. Rehabilitation Assistant Program graduate preferred, or post-graduate diploma in the health human services sector.
- 2 years related work experience within a pediatric/health care setting with children and youth with special needs an asset.
- Working knowledge of community resources and supports within the District of Nipissing.
- Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment under the supervision of assigned therapists.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to collect data and evaluate the children’s progress towards goal attainment.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- Computer competency and adaptability in the use of computer software for the purpose of assessments, documentation, programming and communication.
- Proof of COVID Vaccinations as required by the sector.
- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.

COMPENSATION: $24.91 - $30.86 hourly (depending on prior experience as per our Collective Agreement).
