We are seeking a highly organised and customer‑focused Transport Manager to lead and oversee a large educational organisation's student transport provision. This is a key operational leadership role responsible for ensuring students travel safely and efficiently to and from campus each day using a fleet of vehicles, taxis and external transport providers. Due to the operating hours of the service, there may be a requirement to be on call at either end of the day in the event of emergencies.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the safe and reliable daily operation of all student transport services
- Manage routes, timetables and transport resources to deliver an efficient, customer‑focused service
- Lead and coordinate transport staff, ensuring effective rota planning and driver allocation
- Monitor fleet safety, servicing schedules, fuel usage and compliance
- Manage transport budgets, income collection and procurement processes, including contract tendering
- Oversee student bus passes, travel permissions and communication regarding updates or delays
- Maintain strong relationships with transport operators, ensuring DBS checks, SLAs and contractual compliance
- Support off‑site trips and oversee taxi accounts, maintaining accurate and auditable records
- Monitor student behaviour on transport and liaise with internal teams where required
- Ensure safeguarding, Health & Safety, GDPR and equality, diversity & inclusion standards are upheld
- Previous experience within a busy, customer‑focused operational environment
- Experience managing transport, fleet, logistics or similar operational services
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Confident in leading and coordinating staff
- IT literate with excellent attention to detail and data accuracy
- Strong communication skills, able to build relationships across a diverse community
- Experience working with large volumes of data and adapting to changing priorities
- Minimum Grade C (or equivalent) in GCSE Maths and English
- Full UK Driving Licence
