Kitchen Assistant

Location: Richmond Village Northampton, Bridge Meadow Way, NN4 5EB

Salary: £12.40 per hour

Contract: Permanent – 30 hrs

Shift Pattern: 6 x 5 hour shifts

About the Role

As a Kitchen Assistant you will assist our chefs in ensuring all catering areas are cleaned, maintained and safe.

Your induction will be thorough, followed by ongoing training and development including access to apprenticeships and our online resource portal with free Linked In Learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare simple meals and ancillary items for service under the direction of the Chef.
  • Wash dishes by hand or load the dishwasher, storing clean items neatly and safely to minimise breakages.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors to keep them free from grease or spillage.
  • Wash worktables, walls, kitchen equipment and appliances, adhering to cleaning schedules.
  • Operate kitchen equipment and transfer it safely between storage and work areas.
  • Keep the kitchen tidy, secure rubbish removal and correctly store supplies.
  • Adhere to company Food Safety and Health & Safety policies, maintaining all records outlined in the HACCP policy.
Key Skills / Qualifications

Understanding of Health and Safety, knowledge of maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic environment. An up‑to‑date CIEH Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent) and previous experience in a catering department or kitchen is advantageous. Ideally you will have experience in a care environment, stock control and the ability to prepare simple meals. You should be organised, adaptable and able to work well within a team and independently.
