Consulting Veterinary Nurse - Join Our Hospital Team
Are you a passionate RVN looking for a supportive, progressive veterinary hospital where you can develop and lead the future of veterinary nurse consulting?
We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly, experienced team. You’ll work in a well-equipped hospital environment with a strong focus on providing contextualised patient care, teamwork, and professional development.
Our state-of-the-art hospital has been open since October 2022. It has 3 theatres, dental suite, X-ray room, ultrasound room, treatment/Laboratory room, a dedicated room for euthanasia’s, a large colleague area with the mod cons, a quiet zone for colleagues, luxury patient wards with CASCO heated kennels, separate dog and cat wards, dog wash facility, 10 consulting rooms, separate dog and cat waiting room area, a large meeting room, plenty of office space and bedrooms for the OOH colleagues, and an outside quiet grass area to sit and enjoy your breaks.

What you’ll be doingNurse consulting appointments including:
- Monthly medication injections
- Medication checks
- Long term medical case care e.g. diabetics, kidney disease, osteoarthritis
- Blood tests
- Reporting results and discussing treatment options
- Surgery aftercare
- Wound management
- Puppy/kitten appointments
- Triages
- Assisting the vets with their consults
- Cryotherapy and Phovia treatments
- Schedule 3 consults e.g. end of life, vaccinations etc.
Other opportunities if interested:
- Clinical coaching for student nurses
- Working in other parts of the practice, e.g. wards, surgery
Having been part of workshops and discussions with the RCVS and leading RVNs in consulting, we want to invest in the future of veterinary nursing, and we believe that includes developing Schedule 3 skills. You would work closely with our consulting vets for delegation of procedures, advice and medication prescribing. Support would be provided by ourselves and the Vets for Pets training courses created from RCVS guidance.
Whatwe’re looking for
- A positive, team-oriented attitude
- Confidence in nurse consulting
- Excellent patient care and communication skills
- Someone keen to develop, diploma/certificate in consultation skills encouraged
- Hours - Full time 40hrs or part time considered
- 4 day working week, shift time of 8am-6.30pm or 8.30am-7pm
- Weekend pattern - 1:4 Saturday and Sunday, 8am-7pm
- OOH shifts, if you have an interest to cover these are available (6.45pm-8.15am)
- Salary 30.5k upwards depending on experience
