Laser Setter / Operator - Amada Machinery

Northampton | £13.50 - £14.50 per hour | Day Shift | Permanent

Are you an experienced Laser Setter / Operator with strong knowledge of Amada machinery and a passion for precision sheet metal work?

We're recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering business in Northampton for a skilled Laser Setter / Operator to set, operate, and monitor Amada CNC laser or punch/laser combination machines. You'll play a key role in producing high-quality components safely, efficiently, and in line with production and quality standards.

What you'll be doing:
  • Set up, operate, and adjust Amada CNC laser and punch/laser combination machines
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and job instructions
  • Carry out first-off, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment
  • Monitor production runs to ensure quality, efficiency, and output targets are achieved
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, machine checks, and basic fault finding
  • Safely load and unload sheet materials and finished parts
  • Ensure all components meet dimensional and quality requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
  • Follow all health & safety, quality, and company procedures
  • Report any machine, material, or quality issues promptly to the supervisor
What we're looking for:
  • Proven experience as a Laser Setter / Operator
  • Hands‑on experience setting and operating Amada CNC laser or punch/laser combination machines
  • Good knowledge of CNC control systems
  • Confident in the use of precision measuring equipment
  • Strong sheet metal material knowledge
  • Experience with in a sheet metal or fabrication environment
  • Ability to carry out basic machine fault diagnosis
  • Reliable, hardworking, and flexible approach
  • Strong attention to detail with a quality-focused mindset
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
