Job Description:
A well-established bakery with deep roots in traditional craftsmanship and a strong reputation for delivering authentic products across the UK is seeking an experienced and proactive Technical & Safety Compliance Manager to join its on-site team and oversee compliance across food safety, quality, and health & safety. This is a crucial role at the heart of our operations—perfect for someone with strong technical expertise, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for maintaining and improving compliance standards in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities Food Safety & Quality (Technical)- Lead and manage all technical, food safety, and quality assurance activities on-site
- Develop, implement, and maintain food safety and quality systems in line with BRCGS, HACCP, and UK legal requirements
- Conduct internal audits, inspections, and risk assessments across production areas
- Maintain accurate documentation, including traceability, CCP/temperature checks, calibration, and sanitation logs
- Work closely with production, hygiene, and technical teams to drive continuous improvement and manage corrective/preventative actions
- Handle customer complaints, non-conformances, and root-cause investigations
- Liaise with suppliers to verify compliance of raw materials, packaging, and specifications.
- Oversee workplace health & safety compliance in line with UK regulations
- Conduct H&S risk assessments, fire safety checks, and workplace inspections
- Support and monitor safe working practices across all departments
- Provide training on food safety, hygiene, GMPs, and relevant H&S procedures.
- Ensure site readiness for BRCGS, environmental health inspections, and third-party audits
- Keep up to date with changes in legislation, industry standards, and best practices
- Maintain the site’s technical files, policies, and compliance documentation.
- Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Health & Safety, or a related field (preferred)
- Proven experience in a technical, food safety, or compliance management role within food manufacturing; bakery experience highly desirable
- Strong working knowledge of HACCP (Level 3 or above) and BRCGS standards
- Experience with internal auditing and technical compliance
- Good understanding of UK food safety and health & safety legislation
- Excellent communication, leadership, and training skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality/compliance management systems
- Fluency in Polish is preferred due to the nature of the team and operations.
