Electrical Services Design Engineer

We are currently working with a well-established, building services contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Services Design Engineer to join their in-house design team based in Northampton.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of residential-led developments including high-rise residential, student accommodation and hotel schemes, within a fast-paced design & build environment.

The role will suit a technically strong and commercially aware Electrical Design Engineer who is confident working from concept through to handover and enjoys collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

* Developing electrical services designs through all stages up to BSRIA Stage 6.

* Supporting the estimating team during design & build tender submissions.

* Providing technical support through installation and commissioning phases up to final handover.

* Liaising with specialist subcontractors, manufacturers and suppliers to ensure appropriate equipment specification and integration.

* Identifying and proposing alternative design solutions to enhance value and buildability.

* Monitoring design progress and producing regular progress reports.

* Attending and contributing to internal and external meetings.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

* Strong technical knowledge across all aspects of electrical building services design.

* A solid understanding of the Building Safety Act and compliance requirements for Higher Risk Buildings.

* Commercial awareness with experience designing in line with cost plans and budgets.

* The ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

* Strong coordination skills working alongside architects, consultants, developers and contractors.

* Excellent communication, organisation and time management skills.

* A proactive, detail-oriented and solutions-focused mindset.

Qualifications:

* Minimum Level 4/5 qualification in Building Services Engineering (HNC/HND or equivalent).

* Professional membership (or working towards) desirable.
