SEND Teaching Assistant

We are currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting supporting children and young people with complex needs. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant who is passionate about inclusive education and making a meaningful difference to pupils’ learning and wellbeing.

The Role – Day-to-Day Duties
As SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to support pupils across the school day. Duties will include:

• Providing tailored support to pupils with SEND on a 1:1 basis and in small groups

• Supporting learning activities under the direction of the class teacher

• Assisting with the implementation of personalised education and care plans

• Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement

• Supporting pupils with social communication and interaction

• Assisting with personal care where required

• Creating and maintaining a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment

• Working collaboratively with staff and contributing to a consistent approach to support

Person Specification

• Previous experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant or within a SEND support role

• A calm, patient, and resilient approach

• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

• Ability to build positive, professional relationships with pupils and colleagues

• Commitment to supporting pupils with complex and additional needs

• Reliable, flexible, and able to adapt to the needs of the setting
