Job Summary
An exciting opportunity to work within NHFT Specialist Dental Service has arisen for a caring, dedicated, adaptable and self‑motivated Qualified Dental Nurse who has excellent personal, communication and clinical skills and works well within a team environment. This is a great opportunity to work within a Specialist Dentistry service. The post is based at Northampton and is a 37.5 hour contract.
There may be a requirement to travel across sites within Northamptonshire; all travel costs will be remunerated if not your current base. Continued Professional Development will be provided to support you in this role and to meet your enhanced GDC/CPD requirements.
- Provide assistance and support in a broad range of clinical procedures to a Consultant in Special Care Dentistry, Senior Dentists, Oral Surgeons, EDDN nurses and patients whilst maintaining high standards of care and infection prevention and control.
- Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service that provides specialised dental care on referral to people of all ages, disabilities and special needs who cannot access treatment from an NHS general dental practitioner.
- Ensure the best possible dental nursing care and practice is delivered to all patients, including those with complex medical conditions, physical disabilities, sensory disabilities, mental ill health, dementia, learning disabilities, autistic spectrum and behaviour that may present a challenge, and may include patients at end of life (this list is not exhaustive).
- Work as part of the dental team to provide an efficient and effective dental service.
- Practice within the scope of a General Dental Council (GDC) registered dental nurse and maintain compliance with the GDC professional standards.
NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools.
We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
