Controller, Finance & Banking, Financial Reporting

Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team on a contract basis, supporting a non-profit organization in Northampton, Massachusetts. This role involves overseeing financial processes, managing grants and contracts, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and familiarity with Microsoft Great Plains.

Responsibilities:

- Manage the preparation and review of journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.

- Perform account reconciliations to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial data.

- Oversee month-end financial close processes to meet reporting deadlines.

- Prepare and analyze financial reports to support organizational decision-making.

- Monitor and manage contracts and grants, ensuring compliance with funding requirements.

- Utilize Microsoft Great Plains software to streamline financial operations.

- Maintain documentation and records related to financial transactions.

- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.

- Collaborate with team members to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency.

- Provide guidance and support for audits and other financial reviews. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- Proven experience working in a Controller or similar accounting role.

- Familiarity with non-profit financial management, including grants and contracts.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Great Plains or similar accounting software.

- Strong knowledge of financial reporting and compliance standards.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Ability to perform account reconciliations and journal entries accurately.

- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with various departments.
