The Department of Religion at Smith College invites applications for a half-time, two-year, benefits eligible position at the rank of Lecturer to begin July 1, 2026. Teaching responsibilities for this position will be three courses over two semesters at the survey and upper levels, with an emphasis on Buddhist traditions, past and present, in South Asia and East Asia. Courses may include a general introduction, one or more specific theme-focused courses, and possibly a comparative course that puts Buddhist traditions in conversation with other religions traditions.

Ph.D. or ABD-status in a relevant field is expected by the time of appointment.

In addition to a competitive benefits package, starting pay range for this position is typically between $37,100-$38,100. Actual compensation will vary based on individual qualifications.
