The OpportunityAs First Cook, you will be part of the galley team, you will have the opportunity to create lasting memories for every resident on the Floatel, be a part of the smooth operation and cleaning of the galley for each service.
Key Responsibilities- Organize and manage the buffet & Grap n’ Go preparation and service as per the menu
- Prepare a work checklist and organize the workstation for each shift
- Perform basic cleaning duties, ensuring that workstations are properly sanitized
- Maintain the chiller and temperature records and take proper care of ranges, ovens, boilers, fryers, griddles, utensils, and other equipment
- Proper PPE must be worn at all times, whenever required
- Requisition of food with the necessary approvals from the Sous Chef
- Communicate effectively with a proper handover, with notes for the new crew
- Before signing off, prepare a proper handover with notes for the new crew
- Maintain high personal hygiene during working hours and while staying on board
- A culinary diploma or related training may be preferred
- Proven experience as First Cook, preferably in a floating food service platform or cruise ship environment
- STCW Basic Safety Courses
- Seafarer's Medical Certificate
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to ensure compliance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in planning and directing food preparation and cooking, estimating food requirements and labour
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50lbs
- Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
