Position Summary
PARK ATTENDANT - NIGHT WATERING (Temporary, Full-Time) is a temporary full‑time position located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil‑Waututh Nations. The West Vancouver Parks Department seeks an individual with a passion for public service to support community parks and outdoor spaces during the winter months.
ResponsibilitiesThe primary duties of this role include:
- Watering hanging baskets, planted beds, and trees as required.
- Picking up litter and performing general park maintenance.
- Reporting leaks or concerns regarding district facilities via the evening emergency dispatch number.
- Assisting staff with horticulture tasks, turf maintenance, park construction, trail maintenance, playground maintenance, cemetery duties, and other related duties as operationally required.
- Familiarity with driving pickup trucks or larger vehicles (truck with hydraulics for pumping water).
- Mechanical aptitude for performing small repairs.
- Ability to work independently, effectively, and efficiently without direct supervision.
- General knowledge of safe use of landscape maintenance equipment.
- Sufficient physical strength, stamina, and coordination for manual outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Proficiency and interest in park operations.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of BC.
Union (WVMEA) – Temporary, Full‑Time
Hours of Work40 hours per week. The proposed shift schedule is Friday through Tuesday, 8 hours a day between 10:00 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. (including holidays); hours may vary based on operational needs.
Rate of Pay$30.88 per hour (2025 rate) plus $36.14 per hour when operating the watering truck; 14% in lieu of benefits.
