Our interdisciplinary teams include community health programming; primary care services; home care services; peer support, harm reduction, and crisis response; integrative therapy; wholistic wellness; and Indigenous Elders, Healers, and Knowledge Keepers.

Together, we strive to support Tsleil-Waututh Nation members and families through care that is trauma-informed, relationship-centered, and guided by the Nation’s teachings on balance and interconnectedness.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Health and Wellness Director, the Wholistic Wellness Lead is responsible for the oversight and management of the Wholistic Wellness program. The Lead ensures that the Wholistic Wellness team produces high quality, culturally appropriate, and effective wellness services. These services include counselling; population-based wellness programming; substance use counselling; as well as support with health and social systems navigation; client advocacy;

addressing the social determinants of health; and ensuring access to preventative and treatment services. The Wholistic Wellness Lead works closely with all relevant internal and external stakeholders and partners to support the continued growth of Wholistic Wellness Services in the community, thereby ensuring that the needs of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation community are met, and the wellbeing of the community is advanced.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Planning, Program Development & Projects
  • Guided by the vision, goals, and strategic plan of Tsleil-Waututh Nation, develops and implements wholistic wellness programming, as well as respective policies and procedures to support the effectiveness of this programming
  • Manages projects and programs related to Wholistic Wellness Programming, supporting population-wide initiatives to augment client, family, and community wellbeing
  • Strengthens partnerships and collaborative relations with other BC First Nations communities, as well as with all external stakeholders, including the regional health authorities, the Canadian Mental Health Association, and others
  • Liaises with external agencies as needed to help support access to care, uphold best practice standards, and policy development
  • Supports succession planning initiatives to ensure continuity of wholistic wellness programming and services
  • Stays current and pursues continuous professional development by attending conferences, caucuses, events, and symposia on Indigenous health and wholistic wellness as requested by the Director
  • Effectively addresses systemic barriers to ensure seamless care transitions, improve access to care services, and support continuity of care, engaging closely and collaboratively with all internal and external partners
  • Contributes to community wellness programming, prevention initiatives, and outreach efforts that strengthen the community’s social determinants of health
Leadership – Wholistic Wellness Team
  • Provides staff mentorship, supervision, and leadership to ensure effective service delivery
  • Understanding relationship and trust as the foundation of client and family-centered care, oversees the careful recruitment and strategic retention strategies to ensure that the wholistic wellness team continues to offer culturally safe, trauma-informed, and relational care to all clients
  • Manages human resource staffing activities, issues, and concerns, including, but not limited to, performance management
  • Ensures probationary and annual staff performance evaluations are completed
  • Supports effective team collaboration and administrative workflow by way of coaching, supervision, and program oversight
  • Ensures that TWN policy and procedures are adhered to at all times
