Concurrent Disorder Clinician
Salary range CAD $42.27/Hr - CAD $52.81/Hr
Location:
Sunshine Coast Mental Health at Sechelt, BC
Work as a concurrent disorder clinician in a multi/interdisciplinary team delivering services to clients experiencing substance misuse and mental disorders.
Responsibilities- Provide independent substance abuse and mental health screening and comprehensive assessments including DSM‑IV diagnosis.
- Deliver appropriate treatment/support including individual and group therapy, couples and family therapy, and education; identify client motivation and stage in treatment and encourage engagement.
- Establish non‑judgmental therapeutic relationships with clients; collaborate and consult with colleagues and community resources; assist with development of education services; participate in program‑sponsored interdisciplinary research.
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, continuing education, corporate initiatives, and ongoing quality improvement activities.
- Master’s degree in a behavioural health discipline from a recognized program.
- Three (3) years recent related experience providing professional services to the client population with substance use and mental illness, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Valid BC driver’s licence. Local area travel may require personal vehicle.
- Comprehensive knowledge of psychotherapeutic and counselling skills.
- Broad knowledge of bio‑psycho‑social issues and mental health and substance use disorders and their interaction.
- Broad knowledge of DSM‑V diagnostic classification system and psychopharmacology.
- Broad knowledge of legislation, government policies and procedures that relate to clients.
- Basic knowledge of other health disciplines and their role in health care.
- Demonstrated listening, information‑seeking and communication skills to promote collaborative problem‑solving in a multi/interdisciplinary setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and facilitate integrated system of substance use and mental health services, including collaboration with specialty agencies and other professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to gather relevant information to make a multi‑dimensional assessment and create a treatment plan addressing both substance use and mental illness.
- Knowledge of emergency/trauma mental health, crisis stabilization and ability to respond appropriately to emergent situations.
- Basic computer literacy to use electronic client care information system and general office software.
