The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.

Job Summary
Woodfibre LNG is looking for an experienced Electrical Technicians to join our dynamic team. Reporting directly to the Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems at our facility. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a dedicated team that ensures the safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally responsible operation of the Woodfibre LNG Plant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the commissioning and start-up of the LNG plant at both the Squamish site as well as our yard in China if required
- Perform scheduled preventative, predictive, routine, turnaround and emergency maintenance of industrial electrical equipment, including motors, starters, VFDs, UPS systems, EHT, relays, breakers, switchgear, etc.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems, including 120V-4160V circuits, control systems, HVAC, cathodic protection, and electrical heat trace.
- Inspect electrical systems and components to identify hazards, defects, and perform necessary repairs.
- Transformer monitoring and maintenance on dry and oil bath types
- Interpret drawings, apply the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), and follow installation standards.
- Experience working with 600V, 4160V systems. HV experience considered an asset
- Provide technical support and advice for maintenance planning and project personnel.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, including Arc Flash and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO).
- Knowledgeable of DCS systems, PLC’s, and HMI’s
- Respond to after-hour callouts and maintain a safe, organized work environment.
- Support the site’s maintenance program, including keeping up-to-date records of all maintenance, repairs, and calibrations performed via our CMMS.
- Review process flow drawings, equipment lists, and specifications to resolve work procedures.
- Collaborate with internal teams and third-party service providers.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance key performance indicators.
HSSE
- 100% compliance with company HSE policies and guidelines.
- Champion HSE as a member of the LNG Operations Team.
- Lead HSE Shift Meeting/ safety walks/audits if and when required.
- Timely intervention to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of personnel and plant.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to influence overall safety behavior in the plant.
- Safeguarding systems check lists are implemented/completed by Shift Operations to agreed frequencies and standards.
- Execute plant wide operations hazards awareness program.
- Initiate inputs for plant risk register and mitigation tracking process for operations.
Requirements
Required Experience
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant industrial maintenance experience
- Valid British Columbia Journeyman ticket or Red Seal certification
- Dual Electrical & Instrumentation ticket considered an asset
- Experience with Medium Voltage VFD’s considered an asset
- Previous Commissioning and Start-up experience an asset

- Energetic in pursuit of continuous improvement processes.
- Experience working with large multi-disciplinary teams, and contractors in a multicultural environment is an asset.
- Communication/interpersonal skills – to be able to interact with front line workers through to management and all hierarchical levels.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Motivated and willing to take ownership of tasks.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks, targets and changing priorities within tight time frames.
- Shares knowledge readily and encourages personal development.
- Demonstrated computer knowledge with experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, etc.
- A valid driver’s license (with abstract) and passport.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- This role will be a combination of office and site-based role.
- The position is based in Squamish, BC (Project Site), and work in the Company’s Vancouver Office as required
