Provides support within engineering in assigned areas of Naval Architecture by preparing calculation packages to ensure contract design requirements are met.
Provides support within engineering in assigned areas of structural design by preparing calculation packages to ensure contract design requirements are met.
Supports Senior Naval Architect in preparation of design/reviews documents for fisheries, icebreaking and naval replenishment vessels in order to achieve customer, Classification Society and regulatory approval.
Develops material specifications and bills of material in accordance with the company's material strategies and customer requirements.
What you must have:
Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture is required.
Minimum 5 years post-secondary experience working in Naval Architecture is considered necessary.
Previous shipyard experience is an asset.
Experience working with a diverse integrated project team is considered an asset.
P.Eng. EGBC status or E.I.T. Status and able to apply for P.Eng. within a year.
Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies
Knowledge of stability and weight calculations.
Knowledge of resistance and powering calculations.
Knowledge of seakeeping calculations.
Knowledge of basic structural design
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of the team
technical writing skills including the ability to produce and present clear, detailed written technical reports.
Proven understanding of ACAD software.
Working knowledge of GHS or any other naval architecture suite software is an asset
Good organizational skills.
Above average communication skills including written, verbal, listening and presentation are required.
Availability and willingness to travel to such locations and with such frequency as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
Committed to a high standard of safety and able to follow all safety laws and all of the employer's safety policies and rules.
PC proficiency required. Working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office 2010 software suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
Salary/Rate Range:$44.00 - $54.00 per hour
