Overview
Located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, West Vancouver is a vibrant community on the North Shore with parks, beaches, and sports, recreation and arts amenities. The West Vancouver Community Services Department is accepting applications for experienced Casual Skating Instructors/Attendants. These positions instruct and evaluate individuals learning to skate, from basic to more advanced skills.
Responsibilities- Instruct and evaluate individuals learning to skate, from basic to more advanced skills.
- Teach or coach basic skate lessons, hockey, or figure skating.
- Prepare and write report cards and incident reports as part of program documentation.
- Demonstrate and follow lesson plans based on skating levels and progressions.
- Provide creative, engaging, and customer-friendly service while maintaining strong communication, organizational, and program planning skills.
- Previous experience teaching or coaching basic skate lessons, hockey, or figure skating.
- Ability to be creative and fun while working with people and to deliver excellent customer service, communication, organizational and program planning skills.
- Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED Certificate issued by a recognized Canadian body.
- Enjoy varied tasks and an energetic, exciting workplace; ability to work with flexibility in hours.
- Willingness to supply an acceptable police information check and a copy of credentials.

Position Details- Position Status:
Union (WVMEA) – Casual - Hours of Work:
Up to 25 hours per week. Hours and days of work may vary. - 2025 Rates of Pay for each position:
- Junior Skate Instructor/Attendant - $18.73 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits
- Skate Instructor I/Attendant - $22.86 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits
- Skate Instructor II/Attendant - $25.21 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits
- These positions have a pay structure with two steps which increases based on the number of hours worked in the position.
