This is a permanent full‑time position starting September 15, 2025, at Sechelt Hospital. The role combines inpatient care coverage with emergency department shift coverage.
Responsibilities- Admit new, unassigned, and unattached patients through the Emergency Department.
- Conduct comprehensive patient rounding and stabilization at day‑end.
- Respond to urgent, non‑code calls for admitted patients.
- Participate in an on‑call rotation (≈12 shifts) from 5 pm to 10 pm only, with 5–7 day work weeks.
- Provide a minimum of 4 ER shifts per month, covering various shift hours, plus 2 “Sick Call” shifts per month for 24‑hour coverage.
- Shift between inpatient and ER roles on a week‑by‑week basis, averaging >30 hours per week to constitute full‑time work.
LFP Fee‑for‑Service (FFS) – Inpatient Care Alternate Payment Plan (hourly rate distributed by group agreement) – ER. Remuneration for inpatient services will be through the Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP) payment model.
Work SiteSechelt Hospital, a 63‑bed acute care facility on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia.
Sechelt Hospital provides 24/7 emergency care, inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures, regional renal program, mental health services, diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation services, and a 4‑bed critical care unit.

Education, Licensing, & Experience- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Mandatory
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) – Mandatory
- Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) – Full
- Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) – Mandatory
- Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) – Emergency Medicine – Desired
- Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PAL) – Mandatory
- Emergency Experience – Mandatory
