Your role is more than a classroom position; it's an opportunity to make a lasting impact on pupils with additional needs. You will collaborate with teachers and tutors to provide tailored support, foster inclusion, and help students build confidence and independence.
What You’ll Do- Provide tailored one-to-one and group support, building confidence and independence.
- Build positive relationships that nurture personal, social, and emotional growth.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and adapting activities to suit individual needs.
- Create an inclusive, welcoming environment where every pupil feels valued and motivated.
- Follow safeguarding and school policies to keep every child safe and supported.
- Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic about helping young people succeed.
- Thrives in a supportive, team-focused environment.
- Interest in working with pupils with autism or additional learning needs.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Full UK driving licence – able to support across both our school sites in Backworth and Ashington.
Parkside House School is an SEMH Independent Special School with sites in Backworth and Ashington. We offer specialist teaching, small class sizes, bespoke timetables, and a nurturing environment for pupils aged KS2-Year 6 to KS5. Our school supports students with SEMH needs and associated learning difficulties.

Your health and wellbeing are important to us. You will work 80% of your contractual hours for 100% of your pay, giving you more time to do the things that make you happy. 4-Day Working Week is subject to successful completion of probation and is not a contractual benefit.
