The Role

The Travel Agency Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our brand new branch in Cullercoats, managing a small team of travel consultants, and ensuring high standards of service are consistently delivered. The successful candidate will lead by example, driving sales, developing client relationships, and identifying new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day running of the Cullercoats branch
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of travel consultants
  • Drive sales performance and achieve revenue targets
  • Provide expert advice on destinations, products, and travel services
  • Build strong relationships with customers, encouraging repeat business and referrals
  • Develop partnerships with tour operators and suppliers
  • Handle complex itineraries, enquiries, and customer issues professionally
  • Monitor financial performance, including budgets and KPIs
  • Ensure compliance with UK travel regulations, including ATOL and ABTA requirements
  • Maintain a strong presence in the local community to promote the JLM Travel brand
Requirements
  • Proven experience within a travel agency environment
  • Previous supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Strong sales background with a focus on customer service
  • Knowledge of travel booking systems (e.g. Amadeus, Galileo, Sabre or similar)
  • Good understanding of UK travel regulations and industry standards
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to lead a team and work towards targets
  • Passion for travel and delivering exceptional customer experiences
  • Experience in tailor‑made, luxury, or cruise travel
  • Experience in marketing or local business development
  • Knowledge of the North East travel market
