Working in a small administrative team to support a busy hub within the podiatry service in North Shields. The job involves answering the telephone to patient queries and making appointments on a computerised system. Processing of the referrals that come into the service and general administrative duties.

Main duties of the jobThe main duties include answering the telephone, dealing with patient queries and making appointments on a computerised system. Processing of referrals into the service, the ordering of supplies, data entry, and supporting the admin lead. To manage the lone working of the community podiatrists on a daily basis. To support the service managers in the day to day delivery of the service.

- To assist in the general efficient running of sub-specialty offices including using a computer, scanning paper referrals, handling post and dealing with telephone enquiries.
- To cover for other Band 2 Clerical jobs as required.
Main responsibilities of this job includes answering the telephone, dealing with patient appointments and queries and ensuring referrals are managed in a timely manner. Support the admin lead where needed.
Person Specification Qualifications- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in three subjects including English and Mathematics Grade A-D or equivalent experience to demonstrate good numeracy or literacy skills
- NVQ Level 2 in customer care/admin or equivalent experience
- RSA 3/OCR (or equivalent)
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology & procedures
- ECDL
- IT skills in the use of Microsoft products (Word, Excel etc)
- Medical Secretary Training
- Knowledge of Swift / Scanfile
- You may also need to travel between Trust premises as required for the performance of your duties. You may also be expected to work at any of the trust sites. The Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role
