Teaching Assistant

Location: South Shields

Working hours: 8:30am – 4pm

Contract: Long term, immediate start

Leader Education is excited to announce a vacancy for a position of a Teaching Assistant based in a SEND school. The school boasts extensive grounds, a therapy pool, and an impressive curriculum. The primary goal is to enable every pupil, aged from 3-16, to reach their full potential — not only academically, but also as confident, independent individuals — within a positive, caring, and supportive environment.

The role involves providing individual and small group support to pupils with complex needs, while assisting in the delivery of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised learning strategies. It includes supporting pupils with communication, sensory, physical, and behavioural needs, as well as carrying out personal care duties when required, such as toileting, feeding, and mobility support, always maintaining dignity and respect.

The position also promotes pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development, contributes to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment, and involves monitoring, recording, and reporting on pupil progress as appropriate.
