An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Practitioner to join the Safe and Support Team within Children’s Services in North Tyneside
. This is an ongoing locum position offering an excellent hourly rate of £32.42
, with both full-time and part-time working options available.
This role is ideal for an experienced practitioner looking to take on a senior, practice-leading position within a supportive and forward-thinking authority. You will play a key role in supporting vulnerable children and families, ensuring high-quality assessments, interventions, and safeguarding practice in line with statutory requirements.

- Manage a statutory caseload, providing high-quality support to vulnerable children and their families.
- Deliver assessments and interventions in line with the Children Act 1989 and statutory guidance.
- Take urgent action where required to safeguard children, working within Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018
. - Apply childcare legislation and guidance relating to child protection, children in need, and looked-after children.
- Undertake high-quality, holistic, child-focused assessments that capture the voice of the child and inform clear planning.
- Develop robust and sustainable safety plans in partnership with families and professional networks.
- Work using the Signs of Safety practice model, ensuring the child’s voice is central to all decision-making and reporting.
- Prepare high-quality written reports for conferences, reviews, and court proceedings.
- Participate in duty systems on a rota basis and demonstrate flexibility, including working outside standard office hours when required.
- Prioritise workload effectively, using supervision and team support to manage competing demands.
- Work in accordance with all Council policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Qualified Social Worker with registration with Social Work England
. - Significant post-qualifying experience within Children’s Services, including safeguarding and statutory work.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice models.
- Experience working with complex cases and leading on high-quality assessments and planning.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, providing leadership and support within a senior practitioner role.
