Physical Therapist - PRN/Part Time (Healthcare)
Evaluate patients within twenty-four (24) hours or one business day of physician referral. If unable to complete evaluation within 24 hours, document the cause for delay clearly in the medical record. Develop an effective treatment plan and obtain approval from the referring physician. Treat patients according to the physician's treatment plan. Assist the nursing department with training Restorative Aides. Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants in direct patient care and related activities, following state practice acts.
Communicate with supervisors and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans. Participate in Patient Care Conferences, Utilization Review meetings, and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed. Conduct in-service training for staff in the facility. Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, and recertification documentation in compliance with PT Board State Practice Act and payer requirements. Record treatment changes as per policies and procedures.
Instruct patients’ families or nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training in preparation for discharge. Participate in discharge planning. Recommend and facilitate ordering necessary durable medical equipment such as braces, walkers, canes, elevated toilet seats, and grab bars to promote independence. Report equipment issues for maintenance.
Maintain positive, effective, and appropriate relationships with patients, families, staff, and colleagues.
Supervisory RequirementsSupervise PT assistants, aides, and students.
QualificationsEducation and/or
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy;
Master's or Doctorate preferred. Proficient in computer skills including Casamba and Point Click Care.
Language
Skills:
Ability to read technical procedures, policy manuals, and effectively communicate with managers, coworkers, and families.
Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
Reasoning Ability:
Capable of solving practical problems and interpreting instructions in various formats.
Licenses/Certifications:
Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state, with ongoing continuing education and license maintenance.
Frequent standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Ability to exert significant force to move objects.
Work EnvironmentTypically low to moderate noise level. Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
