Production Technician – 1st Shift (9 Months)

Location: North Reading, MA-01864

Schedule: 1st shift 6:15-2:45pm

Overtime: No OT

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Overview

Support the production of complex electro-mechanical equipment. This role may involve hands-on assembly of robotic components, warehouse material handling, or a combination of both, depending on business needs. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities
  • Electromechanical Assembly – Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Assembly support or material handling tasks:
    • Moving, staging, or delivering materials and components to workstations.
    • Operating pallet jacks, carts, or other material handling equipment.
    • Assisting with kitting, labeling, and organization of production parts.
    • Supporting inventory accuracy through proper documentation and scanning.
  • Performs other jobs related to assembly, repair, and rework as required.
  • Must be able to follow written work instructions and perform data entry into production systems.
  • Performs quality inspections and works with an understanding of what is critical to quality. Documents actions by completing production and quality forms/entries.
  • Work with safety as a priority by following procedures and applying general safe practices in manufacturing.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory levels; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders; and verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Demonstrates proficient oral and written communication skills and collaborates well in a team environment.
  • The successful candidate will be self-managed and possess the desire, drive, and energy needed to deliver and be part of daily execution.
Required Skills
  • Ability to stand 7 hours/shift.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds.
  • Read and follow English language instructions.
  • Ability to use handheld scanner.
Preferred Skills
  • 1 year of manufacturing experience.
  • Prior experience with ERP, MES, or inventory management systems
  • Ability to interpret manufacturing documentation (work instructions, part drawings, or traveler paperwork)
  • Familiarity with safe material handling practices (lifting, staging, cart usage, PPE)
  • Accuracy in labeling
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work all days of the shift, including some overtime.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with computers, manufacturing software, and perform data entry.
  • Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.
  • Willingness to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team/group setting.
  • Ability to work in a mechanical setting with proficiency in using power tools and related equipment.
  • HM does have basic PPE: glasses, gloves, ESD Smocks

Story Behind the Need – Business Group & Key Projects

They build a few different robots for Client in their factories. They have Drive units that drive across the floor and pick up/moves storage for products. For example, when someone orders something the product gets brought to the associate who is doing the picking and is picked up by one of the Drive units. They also build manipulation arms that pick-up boxes and packages and put them in different places.

They take sub-assemblies and put them together (Like advanced legos). There is no soldering. It is more so the basic electrical/ mechanical production: using power screw drivers, power drills, clipping zip ties, using lift assist for heavier pieces.

Team Culture

  • 80 associates right now on one shift. 3 managers that run the various departments.
  • Close knit team been together for the past 3 yrs.
  • Diverse team, equal mix between men and women

Typical Day in the Role

  • Interact with other associates doing builds and managers leading them, as well as engineers who may be helping with the builds.
  • No customers
  • Potentially extension? Conversion? Hopefully depending on budget.
