General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a key member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the store and for general operations when acting as Manager on Duty. Duties include opening/closing the store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly, efficient environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and supervising company operational processes.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors.
  • Maintain high awareness on the sales floor, correcting or reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Secure building entrances/exits, oversee electronic article surveillance, and protect the cash office and armored carrier pickup areas.
  • Clear clutter to ensure safe egress to emergency exits.
  • Safeguard customer safety, report accidents, and execute emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarms as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms.
Customer Service
  • Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
  • Show courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times; recognize Associates through company programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represent and support the company brand consistently.
  • Maintain professional appearance per dress code and enforce it for associates.
  • Keep store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standards.
  • Perform daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards; teach, assign tasks, and follow up.
  • Receive merchandise trucks and non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Process merchandise with urgency and keep stockrooms organized.
  • Assist in placing merchandise on the sales floor and secure back‑stock.
  • Reduce loss from damage and comply with monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Execute floor moves, promotional signing, and re‑wraps.
Loss Prevention
  • Follow the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a strong customer service presence.
  • Demonstrate integrity and protect confidential information and merchandise.
  • Maintain the Public View Monitor and conduct “Code 50” package inspections.
  • Implement company best practices to maximize productivity while minimizing steps.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Ensure associates meet front‑end standards and manage cashier health and safety.
  • Maintain pace and presence, manage lines, and expedite customer wait times.
  • Train and coach associates on registers, shortage control, and front‑end policies.
  • Control break schedules and ensure equipment operations.
  • Maintain supplies, recovery, and proper scanning of go‑backs.
  • Teach scan‑and‑bag best practice and ensure merchandise salability.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintain cleanliness of fitting rooms.
  • Audit garment tags and ensure compliance with company policy.
  • Ensure go‑back compliance, scanning, and tagging of returned merchandise.
Administrative Duties (as Assigned by Store Manager)
  • Manage cash pulls, bank deposits, and front‑end controls.
  • Process payroll, ensure scheduling compliance, and manage overtime and payables.
  • Handle other duties as directed by the Store Manager.

Qualifications & Special Skills Required
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
