Great Plains Health is seeking an experienced Director of Behavioral Health to lead and advance its behavioral health service lines. This permanent, full-time leadership role offers strategic influence, operational oversight, and the opportunity to shape behavioral health services within a community-focused acute care hospital. The Director will work closely with executive leadership, medical staff, and community partners to ensure high-quality, compliant, and sustainable behavioral health care delivery.

• Provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for Behavioral Health Services
• Develop and execute departmental strategic plans aligned with organizational goals
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and licensure standards (CMS, Joint Commission, state regulations)
• Oversee daily operations, staffing models, productivity, and workflow optimization
• Manage departmental budgets, financial performance, and resource allocation
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams
• Lead recruitment, engagement, and retention of behavioral health providers and staff
• Drive quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and performance metrics
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community agencies and referral partners
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional development

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Master’s degree preferred (MSN, MSW, MHA, MBA, or related field)
• Active clinical license preferred (RN, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Psychologist, or equivalent)
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive behavioral health leadership experience
• Acute care hospital behavioral health experience strongly preferred
• Proven experience with regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, and program development
