Job Summary:
The Senior Accounting Supervisor oversees daily accounting operations, ensures compliance with accounting standards, and provides leadership to the accounting team. This role manages financial reporting, month‑end close processes, internal controls, and supports strategic financial planning. The Senior Accounting Supervisor serves as a key liaison between accounting staff, management, and external stakeholders.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Oversee preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of general ledger activities and account reconciliations.
- Analyze financial results, identify trends, and present insights to senior leadership.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities with data‑driven analysis.
Accounting Operations Management
- Supervise daily accounting functions, including AP/AR, payroll accounting, cash management, and fixed assets.
- Oversee month‑end and year‑end closing processes, ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards.
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial documentation for accuracy and compliance.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls across all accounting processes.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit inquiries.
Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, including training and performance evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative, high‑performing team environment focused on accuracy and efficiency.
- Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining oversight and quality assurance.
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement best practices.
- Partner with IT and finance leadership to optimize ERP systems and reporting tools.
- Lead or support special projects involving system upgrades, automation, and workflow enhancements.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 3‑5+ years of progressive accounting experience; supervisory experience required.
- Experience with A/P, A/R, Fixed Assets, month‑end close, financial reporting, and audit support.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal control frameworks.
- Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling).
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational abilities.
- Strong communication skills with ability to present financial information clearly.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
