Intern, Systems Administrator

Overview

This internship position will provides comprehensive support to IT staff by troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues to maintain reliable and uninterrupted operations. Responsible for ensuring servers remain secure and compliant by applying timely security updates and remediating vulnerabilities as needed. Manages full server lifecycle activities, including deployment, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, and testing, while also improving efficiency through the automation of repetitive and routine tasks.

The Systems Administrator Intern will:

• Support IT staff in troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues to ensure reliable operations.
• Ensure Servers are up to date on security updates and remediate as required
• Server deployment, configuration, administration, troubleshooting and testing
• Automate repetitive tasks

SECURITY AND PRIVACY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Individuals working for DSS, Inc. or any Subsidiary will be subject to security and privacy requirements as explained in HIPAA, FedRAMP, and NIST 800-53. Additionally, they are required to undergo specific FedRAMP training to ensure compliance with all associated controls and responsibilities in the day-to-day performance of their duties. Individuals working in departments that are considered to be in the high-risk category will be required to undergo advanced training based on their role and level of access.

Individuals with access to modify data and the configuration baseline will require further training.

Required:

• Scripting in any programming language such as Python, Power Shell, or similar.
• Experience troubleshooting computer/server issues
• Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications ?
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Desire to learn and share ideas in a collaborative work environment

Education:

• Seniors with a major in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Management Information Systems
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 or bette

Master's or PhD:

• Major in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Management Information Systems
• Minimum GPA of 3.5 or better
