The Executive Director provides overall leadership for a Birchwood Cottages memory care community, ensuring exceptional, person-centered care for residents living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. This role is responsible for the daily operations, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and team leadership of the community while upholding Birchwood Cottages’ mission, values, and high standards of care.
The Executive Director leads an experienced leadership team and works closely with residents, families, and staff to foster a warm, safe, and supportive cottage-style environment. This position requires a visible, hands-on leader who values teamwork, accountability, and compassionate care.

- Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of all community operations
- Promote and uphold Birchwood Cottages’ dementia-specific, resident-centered care philosophy
- Lead, mentor, and support the community leadership team and department managers
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations governing assisted living and memory care
- Oversee financial performance, budgeting, and operational outcomes
- Maintain strong relationships with residents’ families and respond promptly and professionally to concerns
- Collaborate with clinical leadership to support quality care, resident assessments, and service planning
- Represent Birchwood Cottages positively within the community and professional networks
The ideal candidate is an experienced senior living leader with a passion for memory care, strong operational and people-leadership skills, and a commitment to regulatory excellence. They are approachable, organized, and able to balance compassion with accountability in a family-owned, mission-driven environment.
Schedule & Compensation- This is a salaried position that starts at $80,000/year; compensation is dependent on candidate experience and LALD licensure status.
- Schedule is typically Monday thru Friday, daytime hours. This position may require hours outside of 8a - 5p, and weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the community.

- Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred
- At least 1-2 years of experience in a leadership role required
- At least 1 year as an Executive Director required
- Currently licensed as an Assisted Living Director in MN or able to obtain within 12 months of employment
- Must be able to pass a MN background study
- Experience in memory care, and/or assisted living communities preferred
