S&S Mechanical Engineering Interns provide basic engineering and design support to company engineers. They are responsible for accurately, professionally, and uniformly designing, drafting or validating mechanical assemblies.

• Understand and follow S&S drafting and documentation practices and procedures to implement part redlines into existing part and assembly drawings.
• Understand and follow established S&S design practices and procedures to complete design updates to parts and assemblies using Solid Works, and other software, per the S&S Engineering Change process.
• Review existing part designs and provide drafting, design, manufacturability, and engineering feedback.
• Review and understand the design intent of existing S&S products that relate to their current assignment.

• Basic understanding of design and drafting principles.
• Ability to modify existing drawings according to approved "redline" notes using Solid Works.
• Understand part tolerancing and tolerance stack-up concepts.
• Ability to modify solid part and assembly models according to approved engineering changes.
• Ability to create new drawings of parts and assemblies.
• An understanding of commonly used design concepts, practices and procedures.
• Ability to complete basic designs with limited supervision.
• Ability to complete basic engineering evaluation of design concepts including free body diagrams and stress calculations.
