This position is responsible for daily servicing of all METRO vehicles and equipment. Duties include checking, topping, recording all fluids, cleaning, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. Responsibilities also encompass driving and parking vehicles, cleaning individual parts and sub-assemblies with chemicals, operating METRO vehicles in compliance with MTRO policies and all Federal and Arkansas traffic laws, relocating vehicles, directing traffic, and installing or removing interior METRO-approved signs as directed.
Knowledge& Abilities
A. Knowledge of:
- Safe driving practices.
- Standard defensive driving techniques.
- Automotive preventative maintenance requirements.
- Learn METRO’s policies and procedures.
- Read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Work varied hours to cover scheduled operations.
- Exercise good judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.
- Efficiently manage time and workload, prioritizing, organizing, and following through on tasks to meet deadlines.
- Bend, stoop, reach, twist, and lift up to 85 pounds safely.
- Take initiative and be a productive, contributing team member.
- Operate vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Work in confined spaces, awkward positions, and at various heights.
- Hear directions, distinguish vehicular trouble shooting issues, and perform essential functions satisfactorily.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be to meet the following:
A. RequiredEducation:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Experience:
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Overall knowledge of automobiles and experience in the use of tools to perform related work.
Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement issued by the Arkansas Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Must have a good driving record as defined by METRO.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, a DOT medical examination, and a drug screen.
